INSURANCE HELP! CONFUSING....Pain....=(
I was in an accident; https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=51254 This was a while back and now I am lost!! The adjuster came about 2 weeks ago and there is damage inside of the bumper so he sent me a check for $103 to have it checked out. I talked to him yesterday on the phone and am lost now. The thing is I really don't think it is necessary to fix so pretty much I'm trying to get as much money as I can because it will be in my pocket, which yes, I know is greedy. He wants me to take it to a shop and once the bumper is removed, he wants to be there and then from there just have them repair the damages on the spot. I asked him if it was ok to have them snap pictures while the bumper is off and then put the bumper on and then have the body shop send him pictures and the prices for the damage dealt. He gave me a weird answer, but what does everyone here think? What would you do? This is my first experience involving an accident so excuse my lack of experience.
Thanks in advance for your help...

I wouldn't screw with insurance, they will bite your *** at the end. I think the few times you can negotiate with the insurance co is when your car is about to be totalled or getting $$ for a theft.
your insurance guy wants to be there to give an accurate estimate from his company. your body shop guy most likely will be so busy that he'll open the bumper up and give his estimate as well, but not have the time or parts on hand to repair it. so the two will agree on a estimate damage cost then---if your like me with state farm, they'll send a check made out to you and the body shop.
from there either have it fixed or work something out with the body guy(helps if you know him) but remember...karma x 3.

I completely understand what both of you are saying, because I have thought twice about getting the damage fixed. I know by law it isn't required to get the damage fixed, so techincally it isn't scamming anyone. Maybe I shouldn't say I want to get the most money, but I want to get enough money to make me forget this whole ordeal. What do you think would happen if I was honest with the claims adjuster and told him I didn't want to fix the damage, but just to be reimbursed for my troubles?
Thanks again

Thanks again you guys. The guys insurance is State Farm. Well, I asked if I could just have pictures taken and then have the insurance company send the pictures to State Farm w/ prices and then go from there and it sounded like that would be ok. At the bodyshop, I have told the worker there that I didn't want to fix the damages, and she is still willing to help me. Also, wihle talking with the claims agent, I told him I wasn't sure which shop for sure I wanted to go with. I have received quotes from both companies and he is aware. Now from here, where would you go? Just to let everyone know, it sounds like I'm some big scammer, but you have to look at it from my perspective. 1st of all my car is my baby. I was hit at an intersection, stopped! I couldn't have prevented it. (Now I sound like a whiner.) The damage doesn't seem to be much, you can't tell unless you really look for it. So if you had the option to get money for an inconvience wouldn't you try to get as much as possible? When I read this over it makes me sound like a jerk, but I assure you I'm not.
Just a fellow car enthusiast who loves his car too much and small things get him pissed (ranting).
Thanks Again!
