Got a JDM cluster for my '90 SI....hows this supposed to work!!?
I bought it off ebay, and there was nothing in the description saying it wouldnt work without major modification. I did a search and didnt find anything. I don't think any of the plugs match, and even worse, there is no connection for the speedometer cable! If I can't find out how to make this thing work, I'll be selling it. please help me out!
its got an electric VSS and you have to rewire it. search is your friend... If you dont feel like doing the swap I will take that bad boy off your hands
[QUOTE=95VXFRANK]Did you really try to search?

I sure did. all my search querys were on JDM cluster and all I got was "JDM Cluster for sale, etc. no technical info. anyway I studied all the links mentioned above and I'm still unclear as to how the VSS is supposed to work. I guess its just as well, since it would be in Km/h anyway.

from what I've heard, you have to have the wiring and the clips with the cluster, and like mentioned before, converting to electric VSS.
I've heard the same thing, something about an electronic speed sensor... where do I find one of those??? I looked on ebay, and all I could find was sensors for honda accords. I'm fairly certain that the VSS signal is created by the OEM mechanical speedo, and then sent to the computer. The more I find out, the more I am tempted to cut my losses and just sell it. Can anyone shed some light on the electronic speed sensor question?
You need a VSS from an 92+ Hydro tranny. (Its electrical not cable) You should be able to find them at your local junk yard. Wire that bad boy up then re wire your cluster up. Problems solved.
