If it is full race strip all the bottom undercoat......then repaint with epoxy primier. Especially worth the time in the front half of the car.
If it's a street car and want quick lighter fell...if you haven't already, weight one of your front wheelswith tire and compare to $$$$light 14-15" with $$$ light weight tire, or Half DOT tire like on the STI Subarues (sp) I don't own on
hope it helps

street car
1. get rid of every unnecesary bolts and brackets. use zip ties accordingly.
2. remove rear wiper.
3. get a fuel cell
4. light weight exhaust system
5. remove all stereo components, heater core , vents
6. get rid of the factory seatbelt mechanism. not for street
7. fiberglass doors and lexan. not suggested for street

I used a heat gun. I've heard of people using dry ice too, but don't know how well that works. The heat gun works, but it can get messy.

20 bucks of dry ice from baskin robins will clear a whole crx interior of deadening, it isn't messy and it is quicker than a heat gun.

Do it on a cold winter day and the job will go 10x easier also

I found out this weekend that the bumper supports form The 90 Si and the 88-89 Dx are a little differents... The older DX bumper is a good 15 lbs lighter... My Si finally got rid of some of the junk in the trunk... Literally...

Is that also true with the '91 CRX Si reinforcement bumper to be that much lighter?
you have the weight on the old DX model? How much older? I'll check mine if needed, I've been painting the under side and wheel wells for upcoming event
Dry ice? very nice I've been building up my forarms for nothing

i been thinking of getting rid of the bumper supports, but i wonder what will keep the bumper in place/shape once i do that? last time i took my rex to the scales, it weight in at 2040 with the B swap. After taking off the spare, carpet, passenger side seat, heater core/blower, the rear speakers, and the front and rear bumper supports, i hope the car gets down to at least 1900 LBS!

Zip ties, thats really the only way but it does work well, the bumper is pretty hollow and light.

i left my front bumper support in for safety of my b series and the back i took off used all orig screws and made a bracket for the top of the bumper that just bolted in and kept it in alingment with the taillights, also on our drag crx cut the rear lip off the si bumper, to reduce drag.
