Default Car doesn't move, but mph still climb

I finished putting a d16z6 into my 94cx. Well after I was done, I took it for a test drive around the block. As soon as I came to a stop sign and put it back into 1st, and balanced out the clutch. The car moved for like 1 second and then I don't remember if I heard anything or felt anything, but the car just wouldn't move anymore. But while I was in gear or reverse the MPH would still climb.

I asked a few of my friends whom are quite knowledgable. They said for me to check my axles. Would the cause of it have been that the bolt on the axle was tightened enough? Because when I took the axles out again the axle bolt wasn't nearly as tight as it should of been (probably my fault, too excited).

Check that your axles are seated all the way into the tranny.
