Default Faulty knock sensor = loss of power??

I read somewhere... with a faulty knock sensor the ECU automatically retards the timing by 2-4 degrees hence the lack of power. Can anyone confirm this?

TIA

USDM G2s got no knock sensors??? Weird. Well here's mine, the green plug is the knock sensor connector. I busted it during my intake manifold coversion

Seems like a common occurance with Hondata gasket and intake manifold installs. They are extremely fragile and very expensive from Honda.

Teken not sure what motor you have, but all the DOHC vtec motors that i know of have knock sensors (B16A/B, B17A, B18C1/5, H22A). The non-vtec do not. The only exception is the B20Z. This has a knock sensor. On H series non-vtec im not sure if it has a knock sensor.

It didnt matter what year the car was. The motor in the pic is definately a B series vtec motor.
