Default Serious Problem With Z-10 block girdle!!

Today we were assembling my b18a bottem end and everything seemed fine. Plastiguaged the main bearings and they were a little on the tight side but within spec. When we torqued down the z-10 block girdle to spec and now the crank wont spin!!! If you take the girdle off and torque down the mains the crank turns ok. As soon as you torque the girdle down it locks it up!! Anyone ever had this problem?? It was too late to call z-10 so we are calling tommorrow.

Also i have had the crank micropolished and inspected, and all the rod bearings were in spec. The block was also align bored. Any one have any help, suggestions, or experience with this happening?? I think im fucked.

I believe you have to use the GSR main bolts and windage tray to use that block girdle...that could be a source of your problems.

Infact, here you go...right from their website:

"<u>NEEDS!</u>
*GS-R / Type R
Main Bolts, Windage Tray, Oil pump pickup, Oil Tray.
(not included) "

If you had the block linehoned you should have had it done with the girdle on. Now the linehone is useless as you can see. (I'm not being a dick even though it might sound it)

Yes i have the main bolts and windage tray, in fact the stock ls bolts arent even long enough to work with the z-10 girdle, so I would have had to have the correct bolts to even try it.

Tbone- yeah, i was thinking the same thing last night. I sent my mains and everything to get it line bored, and I didnt think to send the goddamn girdle, I think that may be part of my problem. Im going to plastigauge with the girdle, because im pretty sure now that i think of it we plastigauged w/0 it.

anyone what?
I think Tbone got that one answered already.

so,
run it as-is without the girdle
OR
realign hone it with the girdle

The girdle will cause the mains to tilt, ever so slightly, so that the crank will bind. The mains have to be align bored/honed with the girdle on and torqued.

anything attaching to the bottom end will cause that to happen...
Z10 makes pretty solid **** to the best of my knowledge, and if you saw this billet piece you'd cream, so don't call them shitty.

Now, I didn't have my bores allign honed, but I did plastiguage it with the girdle on, and it came up to spec. The crank turns, should I be worrying though? I havn't started my motor yet....
