tranny install help fast please!
I am trying to put my tranny back in and i cant get it in. I have a b18a swap. When I am trying to put it in it hits the frame or the A arm hinge. PLease give me some tips or maybe even a write up. Thanks
Your just gonna have to work with it, no one is gonna be able to help you get it back in. Just take your time. And if your getting frustrated take a break, things are always harder to do when your frustrated.

Ok now it is on, but the side of the tranny closest to the front of the car is touching the block and the side closest to the firewall has about an inch gap before it comes to the block. I have tried pulling it off and then aligning it back on, but it seems to go on the same way every time. I also tried walking it in with a bolt, but it got hard to turn so I stopped because I didnt want to mess anything up. Any ideas?
Do you have a jack underneath it ? If you don't relive pressure off the bolt then the bolt will get really hard to turn because the tranny is on it.

I agree with him. With how easy it is to take out a honda motor... I would rather do that than try and drop the damn thing, and the rais it back up.

It is a bitch, Ive been at your point....once the input shaft and the clutch align it should just slide right on. DO NOT force it, if it doesnt feel right pull it off and try again. Another set of hands always helps.

hell yeah, its hella easy to take out the motor and tranny, its alot easier than just taking out the tranny. i mean i just pulled my ls out with tranny. took me about 3 hours to take everything off and pull it out. and yes everything was hooked up. by myself, 3 miles up hill both ways.
idk what u been smoking to think its easier just to take out the tranny. i mean look how long it took that poor guy to try and get his tranny in and its still not done yet. if he had just pulled the whole thing he would have been done already.

why is his car at a honda dealer ? u can pull just your tranny out if u want, but ill be laughing on the side when u run into the same problem he has and cant get the tranny back in.
but hey to each his own

i've spent lots of time aligning a tranny with only 2 people. the last time i did it, we had 3 people...2 under holding/moving the tranny and 1 person up top making sure everything was lined up. it look literally 2 minutes.
one thing i noticed is that the end of the tranny closes to the passenger side was a bit low. i pick that end up and the tranny slid in. once the splines are lined up, the tranny will slide right in...

ya getting the tranny to slide on is just a wiggle game, just keep working on it and it will go in, just make sure you slide the input shaft in as straight as possible. it helps to have a jack under the trans to support some of the weight. once you have it in, try using a bolt or two to pull it in.
and to you people that remove the whole motor just to do this....

do u guys really think its that hard to remove the engine, i mean come on. uhh cooling hoses, fuel line, vaccum lines, wiring which u just unplug it at the shock towers, the cooling fan, and the lower part of your exhaust mani. boom the engine comes out. look it took 3 friends, what if u dont got 3 friends around, what if u by yourself, u still think u could do it ? plus geting all the bolt on the rear mount with the tranny inside the engien bay, unless u can get the rear mount in there without having to take it off becuase of the cross member. its obvious u dont take out motors alot because if u did, ud know how easy it is and less hassle. i mean i got my motor out in 3 hours by myself and if i had 3 friends helping me, 1 hour to take it out and 1 hour to put it all back together.
the thing to remember is 3 friends only took 2 minutes, not 1 hour.
i've done both...remove the whole motor to get at the tranny and just removed the tranny. depending on the car and amount of work needed to be done, i'd use either approach.
