Default Advice: Best way to spend 1000 on s2k?

Ok, I already have a tanabe racing medallion exhaust. I am planning on spending about 1000 dollars in the next couple weeks. What should I buy for performance? Thanks.

I would say that it depends on what you want in make better. Are you looking for better 1/4 mile times, auto crossing type performance, braking, handling ect... ? Try to narrow that down which part of performance first then start looking. If you plan on doing more than a CAI, I would wait to do any tuning until you get your other performance parts installed. Don't want to waist any money on something that might chance in the near future. First you need to make up you mind as to what part of the car YOU want to improve !! My $.02 .. Best of luck

$1k won't really get you very far with an s2k engine. I'd say an extra set of wheels and Hoosier R or A3S03, and some porterfield brake pads. That'll put you out just about $1k and will much improve your track times. Plus you'll stay in stock class

I don't think it would be a good idea to recommend a set of R-compounds for someone's first few track days. People need to learn car control before focusing on their lap times. A lot of instructors will suggest that you learn and become fast on street tires, then switch to R's. A set of good brake pads and some fluid will definitely help though.

I was just assuming since it was upgrade time that he'd maxed out his old setup. If it's his first time on a track I'll stick with the brake pads and say another $200 on a good helmet. Apart from that, save the rest and wait till you've maxed your cars current setup before upgrading.

I would recommend going with the final gear set...Either the 4.44 or 4.77. I believe that Rick's is got them for a really good price right now. You will get significant low end performance increase.
