If its plastic, its most likely from the K20A3 found in the RSX base model... very much identical to the Si A3 in the head and block, except for the intake manifold, which has dual-stage, plastic runners similar to the Integra GSRs(?).

The RSX Base ecu activates the switchover of the runners from short, wide runners to long, narrow runners depending on the rpms, resulting in more torque.

The Si intake is pretty much the same as the Type-S'.

This is the best info I've come across:

http://hondata.com/techk20general.html

Plus, someone right here in this forum posted an excellent long post about the k-series differences to settle it once and for all about 2 months back, but it didnt get stickied

yea.. i think what it is , is the jdm k20a uses the plastic intake manifold... so i guess it has 141 lb tq? over the normal looking intake man that gets 134 trq..
all i know is i picked the engine up complete for 800$ with tranny ecu shift cables, shifter assembly complete 1500 miles... ill either just run this for a while and sell it and get a jdm type r. or try and find the type r/s head and swap it

oh yea this is going into my 92 hatchback, should be in, in the next month or 2

Would there be any benefits to throw a base RSX intake manifold onto our K20A3 from the Si?

k20a3 in the civic si has the same intake manifold/tb as the k20a2. No reason, we need better exhaust manifold and the head to run it......

just swap the k20a2 unless you want turbo. The k20a3 rocks with turbo, with the 9.8:1 compression in a honda! ouch...its going to fly and will bring the value of the engine up.

I've asked about this too, since it sounds like bolt-on torque, but getting the RSX ECU that actuates the runner switchover is also required, which might be more difficult or expensive than its worth after you consider the keys converting over and other unforseen snags (EPS?) etc...

Some people have also said that the Si intake has more build potential, but I think thats really meaning internals-building or FI potential. I mean the Si head has its limits to deal with.

I'd say give it a try if you found it for a bargain (as in very little $ and you could keep your old ecu/manifold), but as new parts it could cost alot in terms of ft-lb-per-$.

What would really be interesting to see first is a side-by-side comparison of the same IHE package on a RSX-base and an Si. That would show the realistic differences between the manifolds after the basic bolt-ons are in place.
