i keep hearing things like mp3 car deck's are the best and this and that. I got a panasonic df602u and i guess it dont got mp3 feature but it plays my burnt cd's which i get the files from kazza. NOw my question is "what exactly does the mp3 feature do"please dont flame, im just not much into car audio, but thinking of getting a new deck. I hear that u can put like 100 songs on a cd. how is that?
Mp3 files are much much smaller than the sound files commonly found on CD's. With the average CD you can fit about 16-20 songs, but if you used Mp3 format you could fit 200-300 easily. Unfortunately all cd players don't read Mp3 format.
songs on a CD are about 35-40 megs each.
becasue they are uncompressed files (wavs)
mp3s are 4-6 megs each because they are compressed.
they take a bit more time to load and they don't sound as good (160bps or lower) but you can fit a **** load on a cd and can even have folders so you can brows through it faster

ok you know the files you download off of kazaa? The program you're burning using to burn those files to a CD in audio mode is converting them from the MP3 file format to the audio format used by CD's (older CD burning software could only do this from the WAV format... IIRC it's the red book (I forget now) standard if you wnat to get technical). Anyhow, with the converting from MP3 to the audio format you can only fit maybe 15 on a CD. With an MP3 compatible head unit, you take your MP3 files and instead of making an Audio CD you do a DATA CD (either Juliet or ISO 9006 format of CD layout are typicall the two most common formats). By making the DATA CD it doesn't conver the MP3's to any other format, it just burns the MP3 files right to the disc just as if you had copied the files to a floppy diskette. Each file is still only 3 or 4 megs. Most CD players wouldn't be able to read and decode these discs, so you either get an error or a Track 1 that is nearly an hour long. MP3 players CAN read these DATA discs and can decode the MP3 files themselves just like a program like Winamp would. This allows you to stick 200 songs on a CD and such.

Haha. MP3 cd's are technically data cd's as far as a computer is concerned.
If you have windows xp just drag and drop the mp3's onto the cd drive after inserting a blank. Right click on the drive and select write. If you are using some other software... RTFM

mp3 is computer data and avg 3mb to 4mb a song
and mp3 deck and reads the cds that u burned
therefore a 700mb cd, can holds many many songs, as compare to a regular cd which is in audio mode only holds avg 15 or so

Any Cd burning program should be able to burn data cd's.... There should be a help file with the program... Read it and it should tell you...<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by sleepingeg6 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">humm this **** is confusing.lol anyhow, i got dragon drop cd software, it came with my laptop which is only about 8 months old.
