top mph in every gear?
hi, i wanted to know the top speed of every gear. i went to the track today and ran a pathetic best time of 16.1 out of 3 runs. i have this wak a$$ indiglo gauges and it messes up my dash so nothing works. i've heard from other people that i dont need to gointo 4th gear but in every run, i see myself at redline, so i have to switch to four. any driving techiniques u guys owuld like to share, and what rpm do u guys usually shift at?
his redline is probably the stock 8100
well that sucks, you should probably get your dash fixed for one...
and you SHOULD go into 4th at the end of the 1/4 mile
i shift as close to fuel cutoff as possible, launch at about 5500 and slip the clutch...
are you running on stock wheels/tires? what was your 60ft time?

actaully, wheel size doesn't affect it, it would just be tire size
It's on the OD of the wheels tire combo. Generally 17" wheels with tires are going to be larger in circumference than stock 15" (depends on tire like you said). We need not get tooooo technical/critical.
And to the guy who asked about turbo cars going faster in each gear, given that the drivetrain is the same (gears, wheels, tires) the speed is going to be exactly the same in each gear. Also, not everyone shifts into 4th in the 1320. Once you start running over ~92-93 then you'll need to shift. Remember you are actually going faster than your et says because it takes an average mph of the last bit. HTH, -C
i was just saying tires are what determine the outside diameter of the assymbly, which determines the impact on gear ratios..
i know a lot of people that put 205/40-16 tires on tegs...which would result in closer gearing and doesn't follow your rule of bigger wheel more bigger tire

these are my times on my best run, anyone know what could be going bad?

60 ft has much room for improvement...
should be in the 2.3's possibly high 2.2's
your mph is pretty low maybe not shifting fast enough
actually, your mph is really low, you have i/h/e...i only have intake and my mph is 94.5
what does that body kit look like? i wonder how much of an effect on drag it has...

my very first trip ever with i/h/e i ran:
16.06@86.54 with a 2.54 sixty foot
15.74@87.49 with a 2.41
16.02@87.19 with a 2.55
15.83@88.32 with a 2.44
there are so many factors like track temperature and condition, etc. etc.
don't worry about reaction times for now.
work on launch technique and shoot for a 2.3x sixty foot. this should put you in the 15s.
imo, finish in third unless your hitting the cutoff before the finish.
if your track has a "true winner" light go ***** out til you see this light up.
then ask around for r/t improvement advice so you can get more runs (assuming eliminations).

What IHE do you have? It sounds like it is hurting you more than it is helping. You should be trapping in the 90s stock. Also that 1/8th mile is a little slow, i think i hit 9.9 with just an intake

yeah, i asked a few people, they say my top mph is pretty slow also..
a few factors to consider...i don't drive my car much, i have about 3800 miles on it and it was bought in march..maybe the car isn't fully at its peak yet.....i also have that special additive in my oil which acura gives u to help break in the engine, maybe its slowing my car down? i also ran with 2 twelve inch subs in the back with the box which weighs 60 lbs, i dont think that is much of a factor....but i was also running with less than a quarter tank with 94 octane...
as of my mods, i have 5zigen fireball with catback, dc 4 -2-1 ceramic headers, and aem cai..i also set my front tire pressure to 25 on stock michelins...while studying my 3 timeslips, it seems that im losing some power top end, any reasons why??
i plan on going to the track again this wednesday and im hitting 15's

You havn't even broken in that engine and you're racing it????
Oh well, it's not my car.
Anyways, Ditch the anchor in the trunk when you race, and don't lower your tire pressure (They're not slicks)
You should be running 15's.

is it that bad to be racing at that amount of miles? i do drive hard about 3/5's of the time...9 out of ten times driving i will hit vtec and i dont even drive that much...i take it out once a day, but for about an hour
thats BS
break in is 600 miles...as acura states it...period...
the engine opens up more with more miles, up to about 10k....
but i ran a 15.7 in my bone stock GSR with 900 mi on it
