Amazing car I saw today
Thought I'd share this. While walking back to my apt from work this evening, I heard a rumbling coming down the street, similar to a muscle car. I couldn't believe what I saw....an Aston Martin Virage Vantage. I figure there may be less than 10 in the USA and I have never seen one myself before. This car is the fastest and most expensive Aston Martin ever made...until the Vantage version of the Vanquish comes out. Anyway, I didn't get a picture of it, but here are some stats on it:
I realize there are other cars faster out there, but believe me, this car looks and sounds like nothing else. One of my favorites.
By 1992, the Virage Vantage further pushed the boundaries of performance with the addition of twin superchargers to its 5.3 litre V8 engine, which boosted power to 550 bhp and torque to 550 lb.ft. The car delivered a maximum speed of 186 mph (300 km/h) and 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds.
The very latest edition is the mighty V8 Vantage Le Mans which delivers another significant increase in performance, taking power and torque to an amazing 600 bhp and 600 lb.ft with 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4 seconds and a potential top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h).
Here is where the Vantage gets it name from . A 5.3lt Twin Supercharged 550bhp V8 engine block with an incredible 550lb/ft of torque. Even today the engine are hand made and every Vantage engine takes about 2 weeks to make and put together. In that time Ferrari can have 10 fully made 550's made. Each bit has to cast from aluminium and some parts are even carbon fiber. The two large units with slats in at the side of the engine unit are supercharges with enough power to make the acceleration pretty vivid. 0-60mph(96km/h) takes 4.6secs and 0-100mph (161km/h) takes only 10.1 secs. With a top speed of 185mph (298km/h) it's by far the fastest Aston Martin ever made up to 1998.
