i cut down my shifter today
the car: 5th gen accord wagon lx
long story short..... i have a neuspeed short short shift adapter in the car now > about a 30 percent shorter throw than stock...... i decided to shorten it more by cutting down the stick..... it worked!!!! i took about 1.5 inches off >> basically enough to leave room for the momo shift **** about 1 inch above the 1st curve from the top >
if you have not done it, do it > now the throw feels like a 40 percent shorted throw

sort of, its not the same.
Your shifting distance is determined by the amount of throw the cables have, and the amount of travel your moves (determined by length of lever)
if you raise the shifter cables via an adapter, or a replacement short shift lever (PSPEC/4bidden/C's), you shorten the throw/movement of the cables. In turn, the amount of movement your lever is shortened.
if you only shorten the stick/lever, the amount of movement your hand moves is less, but it requires more force to push the lever now, and the movement/throw of the cables is not changed.
if you do both, you generally end up w/ a much less hand movement required, but one taht still does require more force to move.
