Default Wierd stuff with car(distributor prob/other)need answers.long

Ok..yesterday night i was on the hwy...was coming up onto a red light .. and i put the car in neutral and coast .. and my car shuts off...and wouldnt start back up... so i got it towed home.So today i changed the distributor cap and it started up fine..but ive changed the distributor and cap just couple months ago.. so i dont know how it could have gone bad..but i did notice alotta white build up on the distributor contacts...what can cause this? is it a normal thing? .... so i drove around after replacing the dist. and rotor cap... it ran great.. and i even noticed my car didnt putt-putt when down shifting ne more(so im happy)... later on the day i decide to go to nyc....so im on the hwy again... i was on the hwy in 5th around 4-5rpm(gsr tranny).. and i feel the car die and i look down and the rpm is at 0 and i pressed on the gas no responds for like 5 secs then it jumped back up to normal and everything was back to normal.. and this happend twice withen 1min then it stopped..so i really dunno what happend there... can ne body shed some light to some of my questions...

review:
1)White flakey stuff on distri. contacts.. and brown rotor cap(which was changed recently also)..is that normal? if no what can cause essesive build up?

2)why car drop to zero rpm with no t/b responds out of nowhere on the hwy?

I think imma change my sparkplugs also t/m even though the ones i got in now are kinda new..changed it wintertime.

ne help would be great..

could be you have bad plug wires, test the resistance. change your plugs.

What brand of dist cap did you replace it with? I have seen friends use junk caps from autoparts stores and have problems, then purchase a Honda cap and be just fine.
