Default how to get tumbler out....

well, got my 91' last week, lost the damn key already. I know that a locksmith can take a tumbler and make a key, anybody know how to get the tumbler off. Before I break anything I wanna see if I am on the right path. I removed the steering column cover, took the wires off the end of the ignition switch/tumbler. There is a small set allen screw on the bottom, looks like a small 2 or 1.5 mm hex key, if I remove that will it slide out? Thanks for any tips!

p.s. the main reaso I want to take this out instead of a door tumbler is because I have to move it from its current location and the steering wheel is locked, I am hoping that I can get to the lock pin once I slide the tumbler out and unlock the steering wheel.

I know on me!

I am pretty sure the only code is on the passenger side door tumbler. I took in the drivers side and they couldn't use it. IDK though, check before you go to the work of pulling it.

I was able to take the tumbler off the hatch of my 91 CRX Si and it had the code on it.

If you are really worried about breaking something though, just call a mobile locksmith and they will come to you. It costs 40-80 bucks depending on how long it takes them, but it should'nt take long at all.

BTW... I think you might have to use a key in order to remove the tumbler without breaking anything.

goto ur honda dealer with the vin number and they will make u one for 4.95
they might need proof u own the car not sure? i'm a regular there so they trust me. or u can take on out of the hatch and there is a code on there they can use to make u the key. This would be 10 times cheaper and easier then what any locksmith can do.

Does it reference the VIN? Do you have current insurance on the vehicle?

it does reference the vin.......it does not have insurance on it yet, b/c the car had been sitting for like 2 years, blown motor. he lost the title, and he has applied for a new title, waiting for it to come in.
