OBD1 & OBD 2 dohc vtec distributor different?
I purchased a supposedly OBD I GSR distributor from someone off the H-T board. Today, I decided to swap the cap and rotor off my JDM GSR OBD I distributor in favor of the newer dizzy cap & rotor. To my surprise, the cap from the newer dizzy is slightly bigger. So now I'm wondering that the one I bought might not be a OBD I unit. Can anyone verify if there are difference in the physical size of the vtec distributors?

Some are actually bigger than others. But internally, they are the same setup. If the plugs are the same, you should be OK. If you have the wrong plugs, you can swap them from the other distributor and it will still work correctly.
The plugs are the same, bolts to the head, I figure the internals are interchangeable, but I guess the obd-1, obd-2, AND the JDM distributors are slightly difference in physical size that warrants different distributor caps.
Here are some of the pics of the "newer" distributor:

the real difference is that 96-up B vtec dizzys have one plug, and the older obd1 distributor has two. they both can be swapped, as long as you change the plugs.
usually i use a small jewelers screwdriver. u gotta remove the retaining white plastic. with these pins its not like the ecu pins, u have to pull the lil tab back and pull the pin itself to the side also. kinda hard to explain.
