Default Prelude Front Brake Pads

Brakes were worn to about 36% on the front pads (roughly same on rear) when I had service done about 4,000 miles ago.... do you think that given mainly in town driving, it should be time for me to go ahead and change them now? If so, whats some good quality brake pads for daily light to light driving?

How did you get the percentage so precise at 36%???

If you don't track your car, then just get stock pads. They work fine and don't dust at all. Most aftermarket pads dust like crazy.

After a few weeks of hard braking, my rims look powder coated I'm thinking about putting in stock pads for daily driving and my Hawk's for the track.

ITR fronts are good for street use.

I'm still starring at that 36% figure...

anyway, my recommendation is Axxis Ultimates.

Stock ITR pads have higher friction coefficients than any other Honda save for the NSX thus making them good replacement pads for the high performance automotive enthusiast. Also, ITRS and 5th generation Preludes share the same calipers, caliper brackets, pads, and rotors.

errr sorry guys, was gone for awhile... just had a 60,000 mile service done at honda dealership, and they rated the pads at 36%, I just didnt make it up lol.

ya, i dont track my car, just drive normal, and every once in awhile run against a lil civic with an exhaust for fun. are there better places to buy the stock pads at, or just like an autozone replacement?

After this thread I figured the lude pads are the same as the ITR's, but aren't the Si pads different from the VTEC ones?

Since you are down to 36% and we know the mileage on the car-consider using aftermarket. Personally, we are using AEM/Nissin pads from Summit Racing on the FRONT. The rotors are original to the car. I would suggest that if yours are scored that you buy a set of Brembo blank/plain rotors. This combination wears well for both daily and track day use. The REAR brakes should be replaced with Honda pads as they generally are not going to wear like the front ones.

Si Pads are smaller then VTEC pads and so are the rotors.

I've got Axxis Metal Master pads in the front and I hate them.I've got Neuspeed cross-grilled rotors as well in the front, they're fine.I autoX thoughso that's a little different than what you need.My next brake pads are going to be EBC green stuffs or Hawk HP plus(I don't mind the dust).

The NSX , ITR and 5th gen prelude all have the same (front) pad shape; therefore , it's possible to intermix the various OEM pads. I'm still trying to find published co of f's for the spectrum of OEM pads, but haven't found it yet. Anyone have the #'s?

You can't use the NSX nor the ITR (5th gen prelude) rotors b/c the bolt pattern isn't the same ( nsx, itr and 5th gen prelude = 5x114.3; 4th gen= 4x114.3), and I don't know **** about 4th gen parts interchangability, so I can't help you there. Sorry.
