Default ITR cams, LMA's,and a B16A

Well I found a good deal on a pair ITR cams, and a decent deal on the intake alone. So on to my questions. I have a 93 EDM B16A2 with I/H/C/E and a vafc (set to default right now till the dyno). I am not building a race car, just looking for some extra power. Anyway I have heard a bunch of different stories, so I am looking for some straight answers.

I have heard that with ITR cams:
You need to replace the valvetrain
you do not need to replace the valvetrain
you do need the ITR or similar LMA's
you do not need the ITR LMAs
You can run the ITR intake only and be good with the valve train
etc...

What I want to know is, can I install the intake cam and/or the exhaust cam on the stock B16A springs and LMAs, and be ok? I don't rev to 8000, around 7700 is about the closest I have come. And is it going ot be worth it? I have plans for the ITR IM and possibly a matching throttle body either OEM or Erics racing or something.

Thanks, John

You could rev to 8100 np on stock B16 valve train with ITR cams. You shouldn't have to change LMA's or use only the exhaust cam. The ITR intake manifold is definitely a good upgrade for money. An Eric's Racing header isn't really a budget upgrade though. You might want to look at a JDM 4-1 or a DC JDM Clone. There is a cupple threads going on right now about headers...

I was think about the Erics racing throttle body, not header, but I have seen some that are of the same design, I may research them a bit and see if I can save a couple hundred. So you are speaking from experiance?

I have also heard mixed reviews about the exhaust cam. If you use the stock B16A exhaust cam with the ITR intake, is it going to have adverse, or lessened gains?

you'll still make power. You of course, would not make half as much as if you used the two. They are designed to work together, and as such should be used together...

You'll be fine if you swap both cams...

It's best always to use stiffer springs with perfomance cams especially if you like to compression brake and downshift.

Now is that because of the tendency for the rpms to jump when downshifting, or something else?
