2003 Honda Civic Hybrid (gas/electric) Tech
Does anybody know about the Civic Hybrid Continually Variable Transmission? This kind of automatic transmission has no shift points and it keeps the engine right at it's torque peak.
Does anybody know anything about how much power it can hold?
I read somewhere that the motor in the Prius or one of those hybrids could accelerate the car to 50MPH in like 4 seconds (electric motors have maximum torque at 0 RPM, while combustion motors have zero torque at 0 rpm)....
If you know anything about this technology, share with me

On the Civic hybrid, it is a belt, and it acts just like a centrifugal clutch you will find on go-karts, or even snowmobiles. But it is not solid enough for higher hp engines.
There is a steel belt CVT that is adapted for higher hp engines, and one example of this is the Audi A4 CVT.
Run a search in Google under CVT, and you will find links to learn more.
