'Evolution VII to U.S. is official, sort of'

Mitsubishi is still not confirming what it told employees at a recent internal meet ing: The Lancer Evolution VII will be imported to the United States next year.

Mitsubishi’s U.S. arm has been gauging the strength of the American market for the 276-horsepower, turbo-charged all-wheel-drive rally car in hopes of convincing the parent company to sell it here. Apparently, the market has spoken.

 

Let's leep our fingers crossed...maybe I can talk my parents into getting one.

 

I was reading in Road & Track (issue from a few months ago) yesterday that the Lancer Evo had no chance of making it to U.S. shores due to the fact that it wasn't designed around U.S. Crash Standards or something along those lines. But remember, don't believe everything you read.

 

Hey Mr Ed, whose that guy in your avatar? I faintly remember that image from my childhood....but the name escapes me.

 

I saw somewhere that Mitsubishi Ralliart will no longer be using the Lancer Evolution as their official rally car in the FIA WRC - some other model that I can't remember the name of right now. It looked great and was in the final stages of testing...

a salesman friend who has mistubishi motors as an account said some of the mitsubishi guys are bringing a jdm evo-7 up to the monterey area for some kind of event going on---for those of you up in the area go check it out.

hopefully when the car returns i can accompany him to get passenger test runs and pix in both the evo-6 and evo-7.
