What do you think about the Comptech supercharger for the accord v6 (6th gen).
Thinking of going this route vs. turbo set up. I've heard good things about them. They are expensive though. Jackson racing superchargers are what I have had some experience with but they dont make one for the accord just crx , civic, and the 'ludes. The Jackson racing type was a good set up and reliable too. This will just be for street driving not track. I will have to open up the exhaust , intake, and beef up brakes, etc. Anybody had one of these set ups ?
whatever route you go you should look into some better parts for the transmission. i thought i heard they are kind of weak. i read article in honda tuning about supercharger kit and they gave it a thumbs up.
No turbo kit available for the V6. Pretty sure a turbo won't be able to fit in that crowded engine bay. A supercharger from Comptech, or Jackson will cost you at least $4,000. Won't experience huge power gains once it's up, and running.
Check out http://www.v6performance.net/f...id=69 There are some supercharged Accords there...
there is a lot of power to be had from the S/C on an AV6 it just has to have a better tranny cause that is all that is holding it back. And yes there is room for a turbo and it has been done by quite a few people.
yes there have been quite a few custom setups i know of two here in knoxville but both were not the best and i am still trying to figure out what i am gonna do. The S/C is very nice and makes the car a lot stronger and changes the overall appeal of the car. However, it does not make it into an extremely fast car but rather a nice car that has a lot of get up.

the only problem with going custom setup...okay not the only problem, but a main one is: not emissions legal.
i live in CA, anything with a CARB EO# is awesome.
and the charger is like what 48 WHP...that's pretty good for bolt on. just make sure to get a transmission cooler too.

Any suggestions on the cooler and where to buy it? Also, I would like to know what people are using in the trannys as an additive or different type/ better type of tranny fluid. I dont want the tranny to fly apart. I dont really have any experience with the accords or automatics for that matter. All my past cars have been 5 spds.
I live in South Carolina and we dont have to worry about emissions. We used to have yearly inspections but they did away with it years ago. I dont see how you guys in CA can stand it-- too many laws and regs dealing with cars.

is there a bigger gain out there for an automatic honda accord?
AND..that's just on the stock boost. there are 258 WHP auto accords running upgraded boost on factory internals. Blower seems like a good start to me.

yes, riveting arguement.
so, if i wanted to drop 4500 dollars, how much HP could i expect on my auto tranny car? keeping in mind that the weak link is the trannsmision, which limits the car to about that much increase.

Steve,
Not sure where people are getting the 20% figure from. SC's are typically 30-40% increase in engine HP. I think the computec have an intercooler--you'd have to check with them or the distributor.
The only one who can decide whether the SC or TC is best would be you. If you're happy with spending $4K on the SC, then go for it. There are pros and cons to either decision--I advise you to learn as much as you can about these gizmos and how they'll effect your car and/or your driving before you put either on.
As for install, most back-yarders can install a bolt-on SC...a wise person would take the car to a specialist to have a TC installed and tuned (no such thing as a bolt-on TC).
