ITR Clutch Experiences
Im swapping a jdm ITR into my EJ6. I dont not know which clutch to get because all i hear is rumors on which is better. Stock flywheel btw.
The car will be used for daily driving and track from time to time.
Please discuss my choices and what you have.

I have no experience with the above. I use Exedy Organic with a Toda Flywheel. I like its near stock feeling. It has been holding up fine for the last 43,000 miles.
ACT has a real heavy action, takes some getting used to, but after that I liked the engagement feel. I switched to a Clutchmasters Stage 2 recently, and that's really nice as well, much closer to stock feeling. I'd like to go with TODA next, a question for all you guys with the TODA, the $900-something is for both the clutch and flywheel correct?

I have the Cusco/OS Geiken Super Single clutch kit. Flywheel, disc, plate and shell all as one kit. The pedal is pretty stiff and the clutch is pretty grabby for in town driving, but on the track it's GREAT.

George, what could I expect if I changed out the FD (either 4.785 or 4.929) and the FW (for a lighter weight) at the same time with a new OEM clutch (and everything else associated) ? Would this combo work ?

I could't believe it when I got it, but the ACT clutch in my Type-R which I'm assuming is hydrolic assisted, is heavier that the 10.5'' non-assested performance clutch in my mustang! You get use to it though.
It grabs like a freak. I can catch a wheel in every gear including 5th with a stock motor.

If you are not planning on pushing alot of whp the stock clutch will probably do you just fine. My stock clutch had over 200 drag passes with me launching from 5-7,000rpms by slipping it and several auto-x events, not to mention 50,000mi of street use. It still wasn't slipping when I replaced it, but I figured the time was coming and I didn't want to risk it.
I'm now running an ACTION kevlar clutch with single diaphram pressure plate. Feels just like stock (heck if not lighter) and has been great for the past 25,000mi of use.

Exedy Organic with Fidanza Flywheel
Only have about 7k miles on it so far, but I am very impressed. Feels identical to the OEM clutch, and I feel it grabs better than my previous new OEM clutch I bought.
1CoolR: I also have the ATS 4.9, and combined with the lightened flywheel, first and second gear fly past. I am stock motor as well.

I'm running an ACT HDSS...and am quite happy w/it. It grabs very nice and is predictable. Before, I had an XTSS...also nice, but a little too much pedal pressure for driving in bad traffic (nothing bad, but the HD is much easier).
I don't need to invest in some JDM bling clutch...my ACT works fine.

you should expect stock feel with quicker revs and faster (as in less time between) shifts.
near future setup for me. new OEM clutch + ATS FD + Fidanza flywheeel
OEM clutch should be in the low $300 range.
