Rotor disposal and warranty
Autozone warranty twice... now I feel guilty about it.
I buy new ones and take the old ones (along with other pieces of scrap metal (backing plates, etc.)) to the local recycling place.
I just wish they would take brake fluid.

My local San Jose recycling accepted engine parts. At least the picture of a piston one the poster of acceptable reclycing items gave me idea that it was OK to throw in the recycle bin.

I recycle mine also.
Our city dump has a free drop off for car fluids.

Autozone rotors?
Eeek, no wonder you guys have so many scrap rotors to worry about
Use Honda rotors, probably last a little longer.
Just do what I do, save them up and use them for ballast in your ice racing cars. Or drop them off at any garage. Every garage I have worked at has someone coming around picking up the scrap metal for free once or twice a week

Will, the Recycling center over off of Albemarle Road takes Brake Fluid or at least they have in the past. I'll check next time I go as I have a good amount of oil and coolant I need to take soon.
The Cleveland county (NC) landfill has one massive bin for scrap metal. I've seen all manner of busted chit in there. Including my old, cracked rotors.

Used Brembo blanks last time, and they warped after 2 or 3 DEs. I still had my dust shields on though. From now on, it's local Autozone blanks for me. Doesn't seem to make a difference when you are tracking your car. They're gonna warp no matter what.

I have to toss them b/c of stress cracks.

I was there this morning dumping 4 tires and 3 cases of empty beer cans but forgot to ask.
Foxhole (off of 521) may be another place (on the way to Jack's shop) to drop the fluid but I need to ask first.
Locations for those in the Charlotte area.

chris, i don't think the honda rotors are any better than autozone's... they're about the same IMO. autozone rotors are cheap and works great.
some of the DBA rotors especially their new 4000 and 5000 series look pretty trick, but the honda applications seems to be limited to ITR and S2K. i asked Andie at CF about them, but he feels ATE are Zimmerman are better although he didn't exactly say why.

Have you ever weighed an Autozone rotor when new? I would be interested to find out how much they weigh.
Just working from personal experience. I have NEVER warped a factory Honda rotor. Every other brand I have tried I can warp no problem, especially Brembo. Although the Brembo thing is easy to figure out. A brand new Brembo rotor weighs less than a Honda rotor that is down to the minimum thickness. (90 up Civic rotor) The Brembo's are 1/2 lb lighter than a new Honda rotor. I always try and get the heaviest rotor I can find to get the biggest heat sink. I have seen many other off brand rotors (Canadian Tire, Auto Pak, etc etc) that can be as much as 1.5 lbs lighter. Now I exclusively use Honda OEM.
