Default Turbo and VTEC

Ok. i was wondering. Someone told me that if you have vtec that getting turbo for it isnt as good as getting turbo for non vtec? this is what this guy told me that you can only use 25% of the turbo and its hard to tune is that right? cuase i'm about to get a b16a engine and i want to make sure its the right choice?

vtec is good.....but you are usually boostin before vtec even kicks in.....it depends on what you set your vtec too....

VTEC and turbo is a tried and true combination... There are some disadvantages due to the flow of the vtec cam though. It actually allows for quite a bit of boost to blow by, lowering the potential output of the turbo. Since the vtec engines usually have more power than a non-vtec block, its usually fine. Basically if a vtec and non vtec made the same amount of power, using the same turbo on a non vtec engine would give you more power.... but thats simply not the case.

Yes Vtec will add more to the tuning process, but it will take to a turbo just fine. In fact a good set of turbo vtec cams can do wonders
