Going from 15" to 14" wheel/tire setup for AutoX
HELP!!!
My CX hybrid doesn't have p/s and ever since I went to the 15" Slipstreams with sticky race tires it's starting to affect my quick steering capabilities. Curious if I go to a 14" setup with sticky race tires if this will help out and be more beneficial.

Really not trying to be a dick, but--Huh? Your steering is slower, or is it faster? Tire/wheel size is irrespective of steering ratio.

My steering "abilities" feel somewhat hindered ever since I went to a set of race tires on my 15" Slipstreams. When I still had street tires that weren't as sticky I didn't notice much.
My main question is if I should go to a 14" wheel/race tire setup.

You're probably better off getting lighter wheels overall...Even if you switch to a 14 inch wheel if they're heavier than the shitstreams, then you're back to square one. Try getting a smaller diameter steering wheel too to help with response time. And I'd take up weight lifting 101 and a set of dumbells.

Sidewall height/deflection makes a significant difference, especially if were talking about steering response.
14" have a larger sidewall, which means more deflection for the same tire, which means even worse response (in most cases!).

Okay...hitting the gym isn't the issue people. I'm not a small guy by any means. I'm just having trouble on tight, technical courses. I don't daily drive my hatch anymore so that might be the issue...not being used to the lack of p/s.
So going to a smaller tire/wheel setup isn't the answer? I need help here people. I really want to be competitive in SM.

If you don't want the power drag of the p/s pump, try what some of the ep cars I have seen do and use an electric p/s pump from a Toyota MR2 or a Subaru (I forget what model). If it's legal, use a steering quickener along with the electric p/s. The quickener is a gearbox that fits between the steering wheel and shaft.
