A friend of mine had his Miata at Piper getting a cage put in, and when he went to pick up his car, a yellow S2000 (the one w/CF hood and all that bodywork that shows up to HPDEs frequently) was there getting a cage put in. He asked about it, and was told it was being built to run in Honda Challenge.
Anyone else know about this car?

 

not sure.... but I think it has a blower on it.

I believe the owner of the S2000 with the snail on it is on the board - 'yellow streak', IIRC.

Yes, I believe they are getting it ready for the next round at CMP. Mssr. Meise is your driver and obviously the blower is coming out.

In case nobody has noticed, the S2000's weight has been dropped to 2600lbs.

I believe the first HC S2000 will be debuting this weekend at BeaveRun. I'll do my best to give you all an accurate comparison to a strong H1 hybrid, but I'm still not at 100% with the new car (with the old suspension).

As of the last summit event... he (yellow with CF hood and a blower) talked with me in tech about HC. He got power hungry ... but now he's getting comp happy. He said he was thinking about getting a totally different S2000 for HC... cause that CF Blown 2000 is/was his daily driver!

 

Is there really going to be an S2000 H1 car for ECHC I think that might have a change of winning with the right driver, when do you think the car will be out?

the rollcage is hopefully getting put in right now.... Tein Coilovers and single exhaust to come. No other mods to speak of....

I think the s2K is going to be VERY competitive at 2600lbs.

s2K- 2600/ 240ish HP= 10.8 lbs per
typical H1 Hatchcrap 2300/ 210ish HP= 10.9 lbs per

The stock is resting quietly in the basement and will be going on the car as soon as it comes back from Piper Motorsport. Funny thing is, the stock hood is lighter than that CF/fiberglass hood

It's going to take a bit of work to get an s2000 make 240rwhp, no? I wonder if it's even possible...

 

I think the HP numbers were crank HP - a stock S2000 makes about 203 on Mustang dyno and about 212 on a Dynapack dyno (from what I've read).

probably going by the approximation of stock crank HP ~= IT built WHP. So it assumes a motor built to IT rules which my guess would be pretty expensive for a S2000 motor.

 

are the H1 hybrids putting down 200+ to the wheels.? If that is the case, than hopefully the RWD does wonders vs FWD...... most stock S2000's put out about 200-205 wheel hp.... hopefully the fact that it is a 6 speed helps alittle.?

O ya.... for anyone interested in a new racecar......see that 4 door 1990 Civic in the background. (neighbors)..it is for sale... only has 140k miles and is an automatic..... you could be the only automatic in the honda-challenge


and....that red civic in the background is for sale too.....GSR powered, ITR Tranny, etc..... $6000 (not including the pretty volk wheels).
