Finance and Lease Question?
Since my Type R was stolen I'm having trouble finding a replacement for the deal I had, and the car I had. Well I still want a Type R and found two at dealerships with really low miles. Both are 2000 models with 7000 miles, and selling for 24,900. I got a quote of 500 a month to finance, now I could do that but it would be tough.
My other option is getting an RSX type S for $370 a month which includes body kit with about 1700 due at signing.
My last option would be get a IS 300 for 439 a month with about 1700 due at signing. Now the lexus you get the luxury but in my mind its a pig off the line.
Sorry for an OT post but having trouble deciding and want to stay in the Type R scene. Is it worth paying $500 a month for a Type R, if it will cost you to be strapped for cash? Please no flames b/c I wont pay attn: I know you guys hate all this OT **** but I need some serious replies. Thanks

IMO, get a new car to lease. It seems silly to lease a used vehicle and still pay extra $100 for 0.5 sec difference in performanc. I mean you said it yourself, another R will probably get stolen in your neighborhood.
Personally, RSX-S or IS300 are both great cars. I don't agree w/ IS300 being a pig off the line. It's got an inline-6 that is smooth as silk and I betcha that it's just as fast as a RSX-S if you're doing a stoplight to stoplight dragging. (1/4 mile and highway drag is another story)
For the money, RSX-S seems most reasonable (if I were in your situation). G'luck deciding.

The IS300 is kind of a pig. Three of my friends have them, and my ES300 was just as fast. Plus everyone and their mom has one. Personally I'd go with the R, but if you're not financially secure enough to feel comfertable with it then go with the Type S. Go here for my opinion on leasing Hondas (and Acuras) https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=52971. Then again you could always extend your term on the R to 72 or 84 months.
The ITR for $25K @ $500/mth; is that for 5yrs and only about $1500 down? or is it for more down and shorter term (3yr ?)
I rather get the Type S. Why?
1. Very similar performance to the Type R. The only time you will feel a difference is at the limits. But, day to day driving, especially in the city would be better in the Type S. (This is just opinion not fact. No need to start a huge posting war.)
2. Hopefully, less theft rate than a Type R. You will be able to go to malls/movies/clubs again.
3. A new car, you are not inheriting past owner problems. I love my car, but I, like most R drivers, drive the mess out of our cars. That is the WHOLE purpose of the car. I autocross all the time. Redline when I feel like it. Practice heal-toe into first all the time for practice for autocross, parking brake 180's in the rain, etc. etc.

I think its for 5yrs and 1500 down. Well the Type R belonged to the Sergeant of Suffolk County in L.I. So well maintained.
A Type S already got stolen from Morris Park so the R and Type S would need a garage which I found. But I would not get a garage if I got the IS which would be another 100 cheaper.

i would go for the RSX-S. same amount down as the R, but the payments are $130 less per month. for about the same performance, and a bit more luxury (i assume you would like that, as you're considering the IS300), it's definitely the right choice.
plus, if it does get stolen, it's easy to replace, right? it makes sense.

I'd go with the RSX. It seems like a far better deal. The dealer is ripping you on the price for the R. I had my first R stolen. As luck would have it, I came across a used 98 R back in sept 99 with 9800 miles...similar to your situation. Only difference was I got the car for $20k even.

Again, dont let them fool by only looking at a lease payment. Find out what you are paying for THE CAR. Also, you ought to check with Firstar Bank, as their leasing program is second to none. That gives you the flexibilty of walking into a dealership and negotiating a selling price. Then, Firstar sends them a check. I have gone through them twice and they are great. Try http://www.acscorp.com and you can compare different leases on the same vehicle. It is VERY easy for a dealer to play with numbers on a lease. As a rule of thumb, only put down your up front fees like first payment, sec dep (if reqd), app fee (if reqd) and TTL fee. Most extra money is used for pure profit.
On the financing note, you can use a simple formula of $20 for every $1,000 you finance over 5 years, as long as your credit is good (comes out to about 8%). For that ITR, your payment should be no more than $500 per month excluding any sales taxes. Feel free to IM me or call me if you have any other questions. Thanks.

What I said makes complete sense. Let me simplify for you. If you go in with your head up your ***, you will probably not get the best deal you could have. It's all pretty simple. Have your homework done before you do anything, thats all. As for buying at MSRP, they surely wont discount unless you ask.
BTW, I say this having leased 7 vehicles in the past, you?

i was not going to lease my R, as i was planning on keeping it forever, and modifying it.
but, if i move this fall and get a better-paying job, i'm going to look into leasing a WRX to park next to the R. i probably won't mod the WRX much, if at all.
thanks david, for the leasing tips.
and btw, what does the 'house of toda' thing mean, exactly?

FAST4DR...i agree with you 100%...do your homework first.
lease deals can get tricky for those unprepared lots of variables(cost of vehicle, residual rate, banks rate, mileage allowance,it goes on and on)that's why here in California they are making dealers more upfront with their deals.
the rsx must have a good honda backed finance special on their lease to move the cars---that helps(for example: BMW offers $700 leases for their 740i which they wanna move, their lease for the M3 is like $1200+ for a car that costs less than the 740i...but is HOT in demand)

Peter- Ask Darth Vader (Jason)...maybe he can tell you...
$1200 a month for the M3? Hell, you can finance it for a little over a grand. Talk about knocking someones head off.

Hey, how about the new Mazda MP5? It looks pretty sharp for a sub-$20k car. I'm gonna go test drive it this weekend for the fun of it. It would actually make a great daily driver.
d00d...I second what FAST4DR said. Knowledge is the key. Make the ********...I mean salesman work for you, not the other way around. I wouldn't buy another R until j00 have a garage for it. IMHO...don't buy the Type-S*%t.
Maybe get a beater until j00 can provide a safe haven for j00r new R. Just my thoughts. Good luck.

for making me laugh. Anyway, the best way to get the deal you want without the headaches is to buy though the Fleet Department. Unless you think you're man enough to take on a real salesman
Not sure how I look "dumb." Just tried to help Mario out. We talked on the phone, as well. Not sure what your post is designed to do, but it seems short on the advice part and long on the negativity. Knowledge and preparedness can and will always assist you whenever and wherever it is applied.
and i plan on taking dave wid me when i get my wife's next car. i rather lease and drive the fuq out of it and then give the abused pos back when i'm done and get another.
Go with the RSX. The ITR is a crap deal...especially for a used car. Even if the total price is more for the RSX, If they can give it to you cheaper per month, does the total price really matter?

Yes thats the lease on the Lexus. 439 a month with the cf rims. With just security etc. at signing. I'm going to go with the Lexus I decided b/c it seems like the most ideal situation. Just get lojack and call it a night. As much as I want a type r, there too hot right now and I'm in the wrong place too own them. As for the RSX, all it takes is some punk with a new civic that wants a type S motor. Thanks Dave and everybody else for your help. Hopefully down the road I could own a type R for longer than four months.
Man, me too I would go with the RSX-S! This is a copy of the email I've sent to a guy asking the same question as you do...
