Default cut 'H' harness to normal length??

i know you probably can't do this......but somebody please explain why i can't do it.

I a set of 5 pt camlock sparco belts with the long 'H' type shoulder belts that i used in my nissan, but now the nissan has basically be retired from track duty. i just got my miata back with the cage in it, and need to finish some things up on it before it actually goes on track. one of those things is putting the harnesses in. i was wondering if there was anyway i could "cut" my existing shoulder straps down to an appropriate length to strap around the cage. if it doesn't work out it's not a huge deal, as you can buy just the shoulder straps, which is why i got the sparco in the first place.

I believe that you can as long as the SFI labels remain on the belts. I think the labels are usually on the lap portion so you should be fine.

no tech is going to know if you cut the thread. if its just excess slack, i dont see how that effects anything other than just haivng shortened the usable length of the harness.

"do i need to 'buRn' the ends so it doesn't fray?"

Go ahead and do that. Just take a quick light to it and burn the edges.
