installing power cable for subwoofer...which route should i take?
Hey guys, i know i'm not the only person who's tried to wire my car with an amp and a sub, but where the hell do i put the power cable going from the battery to the sub itself? i know how to hook it up, but i just can't find a damn place to put the wire through the firewall. lemme know where you routed the wire. thnx guys. :D
alright, thnx for your suggestions but i just ended up routing it up through the passenger side dash to the fender wall, out through the engine bay, and to the battery. btw, i didn't hook up the sub DIRECTLY to the battery, i went through the amp. however, now that everything's hooked up and working properly (or so i thought), it makes a weird thumping noise immediately after i turn off the head unit. yes, i know subs are supposed to thump, ( .|.. ..|. ) but this is unusual. any suggestions on why it's making that last thumping noise when the unit is turned off? it's not a popping noise. thnx for suggestions.
I bet I know your problem. If you ran the power cord along beside the RCA cord, the RCA picks up the engine noisy for some reason. The best way for you to do it, and any proffesional will back this up, is to run your power cable along the different side of your car than your RCA cable is. Its really best to go under the steering column into the firewall. There are usually small rubber gromets that you can pullout and harmlessy drill into the firewall. Anyways hope this helps our your problem.
