Default knocking y8 for 175 worth it?

my local junkyard has a d16y8 block and head, he said he wants 175 for it but its knocking, head is good but block knocks, he thinks the number 1 rod journal is bad. is this worth rebuilding?

I was actually considering buying a Y7 (non-VTEC) for $125 with a knock. The head on the Y8 is worth that. I would suggest buying it, and looking around for a Z6 or even another Y8 block. You can get them for less than the head usually because its basically just a 1.6 block without the head. Or you could use a D16A6 or D15B7..... I'd go for it.

but u gotta worry about what caused the knock, runnin no oil. well u gotta make sure the head is good. because if the block was run with no oil, cause the rod bearing to fail, then the head might be fucked up.

if u can find another block, but not worth a rebuild, unless u can grind the crank and get new rods for cheap. my rod bearing went in my ls, gonna cost me $600 to rebuild the bottom end with stock parts
