Default B16A head or GSR head?

I got a 98 GSR bloc/head/intake sitting here almost ready to go in my EK...

Eventually I want to turn this into a N/A screamer.

Some people swear by the B16A head, other say the GSR one is better, soemthing I dont know yet about the combustion chamber shape and the way the ports are shaped?

The head will be port/polished and all, long term goals are ITBs. Of course all the head work will be done by a pro that knows what he is doing...

The bottom end would stay mostly stock except maybe for new rings and rebalance the whole thing this winter.

Any opnions or experiance anyone wants o share on this?

If you are getting the head PNP's then i would use a GSR head cause it will net your a higher compression using the same components! The reason for this is due to the way the chambers are, very similar to the K series motor ! They flow very similar stock but once u get them PNP'd then it's up to how good the job is done. Some ppl may disagree but this is what i would do !

if you fully do the b16 head which means welding the combustion chambers and what not, than i would say the b16 head, but if your just gonna port the head then go with the gsr. you already have a gsr head anyways so use that. its just easier

gsr head = higher compression/pentroof style chambers (like the well flowing rsx heads)
plus the gsr head is probably newer since most b16 heads out there are 1st gen..
gsr prolly has better LMA's if the b16 head is 1st gen.
plus u already have the gsr head.

trust me..do a thread search under my user name.

if your bottom end is staying fairy stock, and you're sure that you're gonna do port work to whichever head you get, then i think you should choose the gsr head being that it can bump compression.
