Guys I believe the tranny is gone out in my HX. My car started making sounds bout a month ago and i was looking into upgrading into and EX. The sound would always stop when i pushed in the clutch. Well the other night I noticed that when I put it in first it didnt feel it was in all the way. Later driving in the night I downshifted to second to stop at a light and it would not let me out of 2nd. I had to drive back to school roughly 15 minutes in 2nd gear. (SO MUCH FUN
) My first guess is the tranny is dead, so if anyone has any other ideas let me know.

yeah i bought the car with around 90*** miles, and now it has 106***. I took it to the shop today and it is dead and they are looking for a used ex tranny to swap with my HX. Any ideas on how much it will cost at a shop? If i wasnt at school and back home, me and my friends could swap one out. The only tools i have here is a phillips head screwdriver and that will not help too much.

It will not shift out of gear, car on or off. It will not even go to neutral. I have been quoted a price of 1200-1500 for an Ex tranny and install from a local shop.

If you were in the Miami area that would not be a problem, but i just need to be able to drive first. Im a poor college student that needs his daily driver.
you have the same problem I had. It was the input shaft bearing. It makes a clicking noise at idle and a whine/rumble at higher RPM, but both go away when you press the clutch in. Tom said that the first time this happened and he left it alone he was locked out of gears. Thats why when I heard the noise I immediately changed the bearing and all is well now.
Here is my writeup on how to open the tranny and replace the bearing:

if the bearing was bad would it lock my car in second gear? Because the shop managed to get my tranny to work now (same as before with same noises). It rides the same and shifts the same but they said that it is not a cure that it will need to be replaced (transmission). I dont know if they are trying to make some cash or what but it would be nice if it was the input shaft bearing.
ya that is youre or was youre problem happened to my freinds car but i am not sure becuase of you not takeing care of it if it has toatly messed up ur tranny, if that is impossible which seems to like its really unlikly then by just replacing the bearing will fixe the problem
