teg stereo problem
Hey everyone. I recently drove my teg from austin, tx to syracuse, ny. During the drive, my stereo started sounding scratchy. I thought it was the cd i was playing, so i checked several cds and all had the scratchy sound...sound is kinda like the scratchy noise when trying to find a radio station. I have a stock stereo and was not blasting it or anything. The scratchy noise gets worse when you turn up the volume and is not very noticable at a certain lower volume. I first thought it was coming from the front speakers, but it seems to have moved and stayed in the back speakers. Sound also happens when i'm listening to the radio. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I hope i gave a decent explanation of the problem.

if its a 99, hopefully it might be under warrnety :wishful thinking: but you might want to try one of those CD player cleaners. if not just bring it by a stero shop and tehy could prob diagnose the prob for you way better.
No, the noise does not get any louder when i accelerate. It's not just cds that cause the noise either...radio causes it too. I guess it's about that time again...spending money to fix the car instead of on parts. Goodie.
Could be a bad ground... but could also be a bad speaker connection...
Answer these questions:
1) How many speakers is the scratching actually coming from ? (1,2, all ?)
2) Is your stereo system completely stock ?
3) Has anyone ever installled or added anything to your stereo ?

To questions 2 and 3...the stereo is stock...nothing has been done to it by me or anyone else. I will have to take a better listen to answer question 1. At first, it sounded like the front speakers were messed up, but now the scratching mainly comes from the back, so i don't know what the deal is.
