Default OT: How do you save money for your car? Average age?

I am curious how everyone makes their car money, and how old you people are?

Go to work, get paid, put money in bank, and then don't touch the money.

i worked and saved money throughout High School and have had full time jobs over the summers during high school and college. That, and i'm lucky enough to have parents who pay for a lot of my expenses which keeps more in the bank. 19.

I work 50+ hours a week, pay bills and figure out what I have left. Like everyone else I am starting to have less money between bills, car payments, insurance, my dog, rent, etc.

19 and in college. started since i was 17 in high school. basically it's work and save. spend less on food, clothes, and other crap you'll regret wasting money on down the line. buy good cheap clothes and they'll last years. eat less, lose weight, instant savings and weight reduction. i often frequent the casinos as well. but if your a chronic gambler and lose alot, then i wouldnt recommend it.

Too damn old!

Anywhere between 70-90+ hours a week. Finishing off 32 straight hours now...I have no idea where the money goes.

Savings and sometimes I work to buy **** I have no need for.

21... credit cards, lots of them j/k

I live at home as of right now and i work almost all the time. Only bills i have are my car, my bike, and some loans. I'm getting ready to move out in a week though so my car might be staying like it is for awhile.

Yep I'm a student. I figure I only save about $300/month.
So I figure that this month is almost over, which leaves 4 months left in the year. 4x $300=$1200
That'll cover pistons and rods.
Another $300 for a Helm's and tools. -1 month
$300 for motor work
$300 water pump, oil pump, timing belt
$300 for miscellaneous crap
$300 because I'm sure I missed something

Then another $700 for a new clutch and flywheel combo.
So this motor might be done sometime in June, but it won't go in until at least August because I'll need to get it tuned.

This **** just takes time.

I'm 26, 40 hour weeks, I get fridays off, and I make a cool 45K a year after taxes.

Basically I don't buy any brand name food or stuff. it's all no-name brand and bulk. use lots of cupons too. You don't realize how much mayonaise you use untill you start buying it in 3.5 KG (8 pound) jars.

Working 32 hours straight is against the law... anyway 90 hours/week is way up there

I work 60-65 hours/week, and although I could do more I still need 1 day/week to play golf. I'm 22... I make decent money.

20, student, but work a lot during summer and continu during class, the thing is that I still live at mom/dad's house and don't need to pay a penny for food/cloths... so 90% of my cash is spent on my car (paying it, mod, insurance...)

I had the choice, goind in app or get a car, I've choose the car

I'm 19- 40-48hrs a week of work, fulltime student(12 credits), make $9.00 and sell my skills on the black market(honda-tech). I've been spending a crapload on little car parts while it sits in my driveway. Over $2000 since July 12th, dont ask where it all went or where it came from, i'm really not sure! So i guess i'm doing alright!!!

Like everyone else i work like a fool. Live in an area where 50k a year keeps you happy and rob people in my spare time. (j/k) ALot of my stuff comes from buying and selling cars like my FD. Paid 8 for it, kept it a year, just sold it for 13. I do this a bout once a year (or about the time i need some cash and find a good deal.)

"Its all about the HUSTLE!"

Oh and i am 26

27 - I'd make more money if I didn't keep dropping everything and going to work.

I've been thinking of banging middle aged housewives for their husband's money, to drag in extra cash.
