Can I run engine numbers?
Im about to buy a motor from a guy and i was wondering if there are any numbers on the engine i can run and get like a carfax report on so i dont buy a stolen engine. Thanks

To answer the first question. I won't swear on it, I'll have to double check. But I don't THINK there is a way to cross reference honda engine serial numbers with VIN's, but do some more research, I could be wrong. Call a few dealers. And to add, I would not recommend asking ANY cops about this subject, UNLESS they are friends and you know them personally. When I bought my junk B17 I asked a few local cops in my town and all they did was get suspicious and started asking ME questions as to why. Why would you think your engines stolen?
Why would you call the police? Why would you even ask these questions? We don't keep those kinds of records. And if we did we wouldn't just TELL YOU. It weirded me out. It wasn't worth asking. LOL
