My car keeps stalling..
when ever i start it up it runs for about a second then the gauges die down and the engine sputters for a second then dies..
if i hold the gas down it starts fine but only after holding the revs up for a second..
what could be the problem?
oh btw the check engine light turns on right when the gauges die down but then turns right off..

I could be wrong but it sounds like your battery might be weak and you are not getting full ignition spark, which makes sense because when you give it gas the alternator is sending a charge to the battery because the motor is spinning. Do you have any problems cranking the motor over. I might be wrong but Vapor lock is when a unwanted liquid, water gets in to the combustion chamber, can some one please correct me if I am wrong.
mine does the same friggin thing!
but only every once and awhile
ive been told that it may be the main relay for the fuel pump, but i dont know cause its isnt happening as frequently now,
no idea what it could be.
when it does die will it not turn over right away after?

no it allways turns over fine..
and then the motor cranks right up and sits at about 1500rpm then the tach goes all the way to 0 then the motor sputters down to a stop.
i added a quart of oil today and ive started it 3 times and it hasnt done it since..
so that might have been the problem[its burning a quart every 1500 miles!]

Vapor Lock - is when the fuel line gets to hot and gas/vapors keep the fuel from following. Only heard of it happening to carb'ed cars tho, not EFI.
Hydrolic Lock - is when you get a liquid trapped in the cylinder, while both sets of valves are shut, and does not let the piston finish it's strock, thus bending the rod.

ive solved the problem it was caussed by low oil pressure cuz i allways got my right foot stomped to the floor and i burn hella oil this way.
