OT: Happy Birthday to me...doh :(
Got up @ 4AM on MY birthday to wait in line at the local aquatic center (for coveted slots in my kids' swimming classes); finished registration @ 11AM (7 hrs. later), on my way to get my emissions testing done by a fellow H-T member when the Accord in front of me REAR ENDS the BMW 328 in front of him..I proceed to smash into his rear bumper, resulting in:
Turns out the lady in front (in the BMW) dropped her cellphone and STOPPED (on a green light) so she could pick it up
On top of that, I get cited for following too closely
I think I never should've crawled out of bed this morning...

how close exactly were you following?
maybe you can fight it? saying there is no way your car could have stopped fast enough even at a safe following distance? how fast was traffic flowing?

I was maybe 1-2 car lengths behind the Accord; we were going approx. 10mph. Nobody expected the BMW to just STOP
BTW, the police gave all 3 of us traffic citations; the officer said it was standard procedure to give citations for following too close anytime someone is rear ended (regardless of circumstances)
