NGK Iriway plugs
FYI
I just pulled my plugs and found cylinder #1 plug with the tip missing
Isn't this what happened to Mike M.?
Looks like I'm sticking with copper, BKR6E-11

Ok double checked, there are 4 Types NGK Iridium IX, IriWay, IriTop, and IriMac
The last 3 are just different heat ranges and Types
Heres the Link http://www.ngkntk.co.jp/pluginfomati.../iri_plug.html

Do you know what happened? I'm checking mine tomorrow.
Can somebody who can read japense translate what is going on at that site? Babelfish is well, babbling...
I know the IX is offered here in the US, but I'm not sure waht the rest of the stuff is--the Iriway plugs are the original Ir plugs from NGK I believe.
Thanks!

I'm hoping I popped the top "iridium tip" off when I was gapping them, but as I check things rather throughly, I'm afraid that might not be what happened.
Plugs were the NGK Iriway 7. I sent Dan P. pics, not good pics but hopefully he will post them.

They are pretty bad pics but I'll post if you like. I have to wonder if the Iridium plugs are supposed to be changed more frequently than regular plugs. Seem to be a lot of failures. Thankfully Chad's motor is fine.
Yep, I agree with detonation! When splitfires first came out I slapped a set in my 91' Eagle Talon TSi, within 1000mi the spark plug in the #4 cylinder had exploded.
I took the plugs back and got new ones from the autoparts store under warranty and they did it again about 50 miles later. I guess thats what you get when you run 21psi of boost on a stock turbo.. I then replaced the plugs with NGK in a colder heat range and never had a problem again.

If you run iridium plugs, I would suggest changing them more often. I was just reading an article on them over the weekend. They last as long as the manufacturer claims they do, but what they don't tell you is that by the end of their lives, it'll be nearly impossible to remove easily.
