O2 sensors dont start working until they get 600 degrees hot.... our 2 works by sendin a signal from 0.1-0.9 volts.....
while they are cold an dnot yet 600 degrees they stay in a open mode...
once they get hot, they will start reaading the right ratio....

Correct. On my old single wire O2 sensor it would take quite a while to warm up and when it would the a/f gauge would work fine. Then when i put a 4 wire O2 in there, the gauge worked within a few minutes. BTW u might notice the gauge staying at full rich when u stop at a long light or are in the drive thru, because thats when they tend to cool down (single wire O2's that is).
