How long should a stock '01 ITR clutch last?
I've got 20K miles (all highway) on my December '00 ITR (yeah, I like to drive) and my clutch is starting to make noise when engaging at idle/ sitting still. I thought 20K was a little low for a clutch to start screwing up, not to mention the fact that the stock ITR clutch is supposed to be heavier duty than normal.
I only dragged it for three runs.
I do drive agressively, but about 90% of those 20K miles are highway miles.
Can I 'adjust' it/ tighten it to make it last longer?
Did I not break it in properly?
HELP!!!

you've just abused it my friend.
if it's not slipping (are you sure it's the clutch making noise??) then I would leave it.
depending on your launching and shifting at the drags and severity of daily driving your clutch can last from 1 week to several years. does that answer your question.
bring it to the dealer i suppose

I'm up to 68,000 on my '98 R - 4 track days, a couple of solo's, 2 drag events + drive like a drunk monkey every day.
stock clutch works peachy! I'd say 1) take'r back 2) make sure you learn to heel/toe instead of jamming her into a lower gear...it kills clutches {not as bad as 6000rpm 2nd gear launches, but oh well}hehehe
I've had a long vacation!

Honda clutches should last at least 5 years. I do not know your driving style, but it seems that you were down shifting aggressively or riding your clutch for it to go out so quickly. Like BPR said, if it ain't slipping, just leave it be. If it does, get it replaced and try to rev-match, stop-riding your clutch and it will last quite a bit. In my past 4 Honda's ('86 'lude Si, '96 GSR, '99 Civic, '01 'teg) I've never had to replace the stock clutch until 80k miles at the earliest... which was on '86 'lude Si.
i completely destroyed my gsr clutch at 19,839 miles. of course that was at the track...
as many will tell you, keep the stock one till it dies - then replace.

No need to worry, it's just the release bearing and the presure plate contract area that is starting to dry up or getting shiny due to wear. I wouldn't worry about it unless it's slipping.

I'm goin' on 13,000 miles on my stock clutch with little or no problems. I did a search a while back and found that a couple of people killed their clutch with about 12-13k miles. I look at this way, the faster I wear out my clutch , the faster I could replace it and get an ACT clutch and toda flywheel
Well i wouldnt say that just slipping is what U have to worry bout... my 94 had 120 k when it went out.. but it wasnt slowly.. it worked fine cuzz the previous 110k were from sum old lady... but when it went out... it did.. i thought the salve cylider went out or sumtin.. nope... took clutch out... spring in L shape and huge tear in the metal goin down the plate.... it was kewl.. i havea cluthmaster stage 2 now.. works great.. makes bit of a creakin noise when engaging but i was told this is normal... barks 3rd on new tire
