Well, it looks like the Speedvision we all know and love is already on the demise... Totally NASCAR has been brought over from FOX and has been showing every night in place of the scheduled programs....

Oh - noooo! It was good while it lasted. I knew it was inevitable when I read that last year's US F1 GP (which was supposedly wildly successful) had a TV audience that was smaller than a typical regional NASCAR feeder series. And that was on Fox Sports, which is way more freely available than Speedvision.

I cannot see how Speedvision ever made sense in the US. However, they only have themselves to blame in many ways. I mean, I am a big motorsports fan, but do I really want to see highlights of the 1956 Finnish national rally? There are a lot of good recent UK programs that they could have show instead.

What would be great is a Station that covers Japanese N1 Endurance racing, JGTC, etc, Rally Racing, Grand am cup, world challenge etc, F1 and on and on
None of that BS with boats and monster trucks

If Speedvision becomes the NASCAR Channel, where do they show the Speedvision WC? Or is NASCAR getting into GT and Touring cars...

Speedvision's Boat Shaping, Air planes, War planes and Nascar crap sucks. I'm surprised that they don't have a SUV racing serious. They need to show more GT, F1, Leman's and etc. Japanese Touring and German, BTCC and etc would seriously kick ***.

Speedvision is great........when there isn't crap on. I hope they don't kill that station. You can't get LeMans and F1 from anywhere else!

I got to watch the FIA World Rally of Africa last night. If I have to endure a little truck racing and NASCAR to get my SCCA ProRally, FIA World Rally, and British/Aussie Touring Car Racing, fine. But until another station starts showing those series, I'll pput up with whatever I have to.

are you sure? it isn't like that on the Speedvision I watch. Totally NASCAR is on for 30 mins at 5:30pm and at 2:30am. I would hardly call that "in place of scheduled programs".

They will be showing more NASCAR now than they did in previous weeks because they now have an agreement with the NASCAR people. Hopefully the amount of NASCAR being shown will be no more than what was telecast last year.

to the person who commented on SUV racing, they show European truck racing on Motorsport Mundial. it is actually quite entertaining in a strange way.

Speedvision has always been more than just cars. The motorcyclists get their nights of coverage, so do the boaters and those who like their thrills in the air. i am not a fan of NASCAR or truck/bike/boat racing but some people are and they have to watch it somewhere. At least auto racing gets better show times than the other sports.

When Fox takes over, I don't think it will be as bad as everone is saying it will be. Read this thread for more, especially the comment from Alan Wilson - http://bbs.sccaproracing.com/ubb/For...ML/001251.html

Let us hope that it doesn't turn out as bad as everyone is expecting it to be.

Just goto http://www.speedvision.com and send them an email. It can only help. If enough of us keep bombarding them with emails about how much we like their present structure, they may make a public announcement to quench all of the rumors.

I agree. WRC is some of the best racing out there. Personally, I think these guys are the most "touched" (meaning CRAZY) racers on 4 wheels. I've got a very bad feeling about what going to happen with SpeedVision...

Speedvision said publicly a couple of weeks ago that they are NOT changing over to the NASCAR channel. They claim that it was a nasty internet rumor that somehow ballooned into a full fledged news story. They say they never even talked about it or thought about it.

As far as NASCAR, what's the problem with it? We don't drive that kind of car? We don't drive F1 cars either (although many ITR owners like to think they have an F1 car). They only turn left? So, they also drive extremely fast in close formation and some of the short track events (especially Bristol Motor Speedway races) are very exciting. They can't drive? You try it. I don't get why people bash NASCAR so much, I like it. Then again I like most forms of racing, I watched a National Geographic special on the British Riding Mower circuit and thought it was cool as hell too.

There was a petition out there against NASCAR on speedvision

</a>

I do enjoy the F1 coverage that they provide, as well as the touring car coverage. I think there are enough stations out there showing NASCAR.

The other reason that I can't watch NASCAR is that I have too many teeth

I personally don't watch nascar because it seems to bore me, since they just turn left. Although I admit when they raced at watkins glen the other day I watched for awhile.

I have new respect for NASCAR drivers. I just did a track event at Pocono Raceway and we used part of the oval. Ovals are much harder than they look. If you live near an Oval and a club puts on a track event, try it. It is not as easy as it looks.

The only exciting thing about NASCAR is 10sec pit stops. You telling me to watch the whole damn race for 10sec of excitement? Fug dat!

Watch a short track race sometime. 40 cars going 140+mph around an oval that is only 1/2 mile long creates some pretty hairy racing, even if they only turn left.

I just read it and you're right, it's not going to NASCAR all the time....but 50% of the time??!?!

This is a quote from the URL

"Yes, the plans are we are definitely going to be doing a lot more NASCAR programming . . . 50 percent may seem like a lot, but that still leaves a lot of times for other things."
