Default Apexi V-AFC

I have an 02 S2000, Thinking of adding and V-AFC. Anyone use this product for Vtec Controller?
Also I have heard they are complicated to use, is that true?

its not that complicated to use, but it takes time to tune it right.

why is this in the integra forums? the new vafc2's can be had for around 300 if you look carefully.

Research man. They control your fuel flow, in +50/-50 % flow, for every 500 rpm increments, and they also adjust where your vtec is engaged.

HAS ANYONE USED ONE ON THEIR CAR. DID YOU NOTICE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN ~0-60MPH?
DOES IT VOID ANY WARRANTIES? I AM SURE IT DOES.

You are not going to see any gains in acceleration. A VAFC is a tuning tool, it will allow for a finer, and more accurate A/F ratio. It may void your warranty, but you can always uninstall it.

Well, I was told that it allows you to adjust when the
vtec kicks in, in addition to adjusting the air and
fuel intakes.
Tell me if I am wrong, if I can lower the vtec to 3k
RPMs instead of 6k RPMs, would that not make the car
faster. Would it not also be better for the car, not
having the RPMS running so high all the time.

VAFC2 = ~$300 vs. Hondata = ~$300

do some research and see what suits your needs. if you are just planning on strapping on a few hp and having a cool flashy light thingy... go with the apex unit. if you want more flexible tuning options with the room for some pretty cool future upgrades... go with the Hondata system.

The VTEC system was not designed to make power. It was designed to keep your engine from losing torque at higher RPMs. Therefor lowering it may or may not make more power.

it would be very stupid to lower your VTEC past 4400rmps unless u want to hurt your motor and go very slow.

VAFC did alot for my car. It smoothened out my power curve and got rid of the dip when Vtec engaged. Gave me gains throughout the whole powerband as well.

Its definately a nice little piece for your car...

This may be a little off topic but here goes... does anyone sell a harness to connect the VAFC2 so that I don't have to cut or solder my car's factory harness?? Aside from making it easier to install, I would be VERY interested in one such thing as it would make it easy to take on/off on trips to the dealer for warranty checks.

Can I adjust the idle with my V-AFC?

I have some CAT Stage 3 cams along with their spring/retainer kit and I've noticed that my idle is really low..the idle always seems to go down to 750 on the Type-R..but is there a way I can raise it with the V-AFC to say 900..1K? Or would getting a chipped ECU be the alternative??

Is the V-AFC2 better than the original? What's the difference?
