The crank itself will fit the block

will it afect the stroke if I use b16 rods.I dont want it to add a bunch of strok and bunp the compresion up.Thats while using the b18c5 crank.

My only question is why?
You do know that using the GSR 87.2mm crank with B16 134.36mm rods will give ya a 1.540 Rod ratio.
That's worst than the stock GSR & ITR rod ratios of 1.581, and about the same as the LS's ratio of 1.539.
You want the 1.735 rod ratio of the 77.4mm crank & 134.36mm rods.
Remember, 1.75 rod ratio is the ideal rod ratio.

If anything...you want longer rods for a safer motor.

I was going to give the same answer.

At 9:1, I take it that this will be for a high boost turbo motor?

I would not worry much about lenght, as the B16 has the near perfect rod ratio. It's the B18's & B20's that I would start playing with custom rods lenghts and pistons...but that's just me.

Answer your question?

Yes you would need custom rods in a B16 with a GSR/ITR crank. In fact...you would need shorter rods which are not so healthy for the already short rodded B16.

Who cares about R/S ratio? It's not going to make that much of a difference. The crank itself would fit, and you "could" use the pistons, you'd be better off with B16 or custom for higher compression. If you want 9:1 no problem. As stated you will need custom rods. ITR or B16 will not work. I would just try and source a GSR block, or bite the bullet and sleve your ITR block. R/S ratio is overrated. Do you plan on running in the Rolex 24 by any chance?

you'll need custom rods because the deck height of the B16 is the smallest of the beseries engine.

if you put the whole gsr/itr bottom end into your b16a the piston will stick out the block and hit the head if the engine was assembled.

Just overbore the B16A block, and leave all the internals like the crank where they are. Pop your ITR head and other goodies onto the block and you should be good to go.

It sounds like a waste of money to replace the B16 rods etc for a little longer stroke. When you're done buying parts and doing the work you probably spent the money of a ITR block anyway.

An overbored B16 should make very nice power, and with the ITR head you should be able to get away with revving it up to 8600rpm's no problem.

the b18c5 crank will fit the B16B, not the B16a. the 16B has the same deck hieght as all 1.8L b series motors. actually, all of the ITR block components will bolt into the B16B making it an ITR, but that would be a huge waste of money. why not just buy an ITR? the only benefit of doing this is to fool everyone into thinking that you still own a 1.6.
