I just swapped up my radiator and i only had about a half gallon just for tonight. Si i go take a drive to the store and the needle would fluctuate from "normal" to almost red. When i hit the gas it would "cool" down. Its got to a low coolant level, right?

 

If I remember correct, I think mine took a little less than a full jug and I just poured the rest into the overflow tank. hth

 

so could that be why the car coul dbe almost over heating?

 

I'd say more than likley, cause if you think about it the radiator would only be about 1/2 full. I don't think that would be enough coolent to keep the car cool.

 

you do know you are suposed to use 50/50 mix of water dont you?

oh definatly. Thats what I've been using. It just freaked me out because even when i had a leak in it the car never overheated.
