Default Part # for OE Windshield

Anybody know the part number for an OE Windshield for a 2001 PY ITR? I just want to verify what I have just been told over the phone. Thanks in advance.

Anybody?? I don't know if there is a difference in tint for the Black and Yellow cars, but I don't want to get the wrong one. Just wanted a confirmation so I'll know if the one I ordered is the correct part #.

I had read somewhere the Type R windshied is thinner to save weight. Could be wrong though . . .

Windshields come in ONE color GREEN (No tint differences). DOT requires no les than 85% light transmission through a windshield glass. Front and rear door glass on a passenger car is considerede the same and on trucks and SUVs the front door glass is the same and rear doors can be tinted.

I doubt there is a different part number although I have read the same thing. Carlex Glass (My employer) makes a lot glass for OEM manufacturers and even with highly varying models they don't change for specific trim lines.

North American Type R's use the same windshield as all other Integras. Confirmed that when I broke mine last year. I do believe European and Japanese cars have thinner glass (30% thinner claimed in CAR magazine).

Robert - Make sure you beg for Honda glass. You might have to raise hell.

yep.. Hell was raised, but Honda Glass has been ordered from Acura. But I just wanted to confirm my part number with somebody else who has had this done. Not sure, but I could have sworn she said "blue" tint.. not "green".

Robert - Yah, I went throught the same chit. On the phone with the glass companies:

"Yeah, I need a Honda windshield."
"Ok, that's one PPG windshield..."
"No, I said Honda."
"PPG makes Honda glass, sir."
"Does the PPG glass say Honda?"
"No, sir."
"Then order me a F-ing Honda windshield, you dumb pickle-sniffer!!"

You should post pics of the "track casualty."

FYI, AP TECH or Asahi (The parent company in Japan) is the manufacturing company for OEM Honda glass. Not PPG. (But we all already knew that )

All glass is green, shade bands can be different but are typically a blueish in color.

So what you're telling me is that the glass companies I dealt with are even more ig'nant than I thought? Sweet!

Pat, who was told by at least two glass companies that PPG makes Honda glass

Them OEM windshields ain't cheap, and Progressive (and my deductable) are not helping much either.
But ya gotta keep the R pretty.

How much are the OEM windshields for USDM Rs?
Just wondering because I have couple chips on mine now..just wondering what it cost to get it replaced if something does do some damage to my windshield more then I have now.

mine was $600 and change, through the glass shop of course. I think there is a law that lets you insist on OEM parts. Call Acura CS and they will tell you.

My GF's MDX, which as you know is assembled in the NA, says Honda PPG on all glasses. I personally think that PPG is a valid and acceptable alternative, but I insisted on OE because I didn't want to make a potential buyer think that the car could have been in an accident when it was not. (stupid reason, I know)

I didn't have ANY problem with Farmers.

BTW I am not selling my car

Going through the glass installer used by Wagonworks here in Arlington (K C Autoglass), it will be about $595 installed at my appartment. She was to be ordering it from Honda, along with whichever trim pieces (header?) also need to be replaced.

Why OEM? BECAUSE its my R, and a 97 at that! ... later, ed
