what do you mean do you mean, is the radio DIN a regular sized DIN or do you mean is the blank DIN below it a regular DIN? Are you putting a 2 DIN receiver in or an equalizer?

What I mean, is I am replacing the OEM radio unit with an aftermarket regular sized DIN CD player.
Will the OEM DIN holder work for this? Or do I need the aftermarket DIN kit?

oh you mean... can you still use the OEm din holder beneath it. Yuo can but you have to jimmy rig the bottom DIN I have it jimmy rigged to the aftermarket deck with a brace then you have to put some sort of spacer (i used plastic) to keep the bottom din from wiggling up and down... it's possible wiht a little jimmy rigging. My bigger problem is that my deck won't secure in the back so if I shift hard my deck pops out.
I made up a new bracket to secure the aftermarket headunit to the same mounting point as the OEM headunit and I also made some brackets for the holder and used some spacers to stop it moving around.
It is important that you ensure a tight fit otherwise you will probably find that CDs will skip on every bump you drive over.

I used the OEM DIN holder that is located under the radio for my Clarion headunit. Went in fine and looks a lot better than the kits that I have seen.
I am really too lazy to get out the dig and grab a pic. i put my feilds in the tray, hot glued a piece of 3/8" birch plywood to the top of the tray for support and used the bracket and box that came with my alpine unit. the fit is perfect with the trim ring in place and looks perfect.
nice CB Bandit. I like the eagle on your hood also, goes real nice with the T-Tops

Nice fitment
Much better than the aftermarket crap in my old roommate's GSR, that caused the stereo to cut up my hand when the deck flew out on a hard 1-2 shift when I was abusing his car
