I got my car (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=474096) impounded on the 18th of this month, and had a few q's...

1st: If there is any damamge to my vehicle or if any parts or stolen/missing/damaged who is responsible or is anyone?

2nd: Can and will chp pop my hood at impound and do a visual inspection?

3rd: If visual inspection done at impound can they slap on a bunch of violations for having an OBD1 Chipped P-28 LS/VTEC with all the illegal bolt-ons.

Thanks for the help guys, I could just cry knowing that my baby is all locked up.

A Side note: To anyone with a suspended driver's license, if ur going to drive, do not, I repeat do not roll a stop sign at even 1mph it could result in your car getting impounded, also as advice from the CHP officer. An expired driver's license will usually fly since they are often too lazy to check its validty

 

ive had my car impounded quite a few times and as far as them popping the hood they cant do shiet. but if there is damage ure pretty much sol

 

cops dont even go to the impound let alone inspect it there(at least in my city).

cops run the impound where im from. and yes the first time my old car got impounded i got it back missing 3k+ stero and video stuff. the impound yard said the car is exactly how they got it. makes me wonder if the tow truck driver made a stop before he took it to the impound yard

 

I've had my car impounded on a mistake because someone in the court house screwed up my records with someone else. They said I had a suspended license and took away my car for they said would be a month. During the time I was explaining myself, the car just sat there (luckily it wasn't stolen). They didn't visually inspect anything, and nobody cares about what engine modifications you have. Anyways, I got it back 1 week later, no problems, and didn't have to pay anything.

You're more likely to have theives break into the impound lot (or work there), who will just rape your car for everything it's worth. It would be great for the police to actually open up the hood and write down all your modifications but they won't... You'd be lucky enough to even have a policeman go to the impound lot at all...

If there is damage to the vehicle while it's in the impound lot, you probably won't be able to get any reimbursement for it. they already wrote down on a paper the "damage" to the car that they believe existed before it got to the tow yard.

But quit driving on a suspended license and that crap won't happen... Means you probably don't have insurance, huh?
