Default 91 CRX Si D16 to B17swap - Should I do it.....

Ok I got problems in the bottem end of my D16 so its got to go one way or another. Money here isnt the issue, its a morals question. I am at the deciding point on getting a B series swap and am getting a decent deal on a B17a, and getting it installed at a shop who will warrentee there work. They are providing everything in the swap. Price is $3700 installed with Hasport mounts, and all needed hardware and cpu.

Someone slap me around and tell me if Im being a jackass or if I will be happy.

Car will be used to and from work and run at local strip on friday nights and diff strip on sat. both are 8th mile tracks.

Current 8th mile times bone stock with crap tires. And with the Stereo system, speaker box, tool box, and other crapola on board. this is an average time slip.

0.653 ------------------ R/T 0.500 tree
2.453 ------------------ 60 foot
7.185 ------------------ 330 foot
62.50 ------------------ MPH
11.080 ----------------- 1/8th mile time

that is average loaded down, average ET on 8th no speaker box or tools or other crap was 10.8s Keep in mind tires still suck, and 3rd doesnt go in easy.

B17a swap alone should get me into the low 9s on its own, and with Nitto Drag Radials should bring me to low 9s high 8s. If I do this swap here is future plans.

Cam upgade
DC Header
larger Injectors
strait through exhast
Hondata ECU
Azenis Sport tires (if discount tire ever gets em in stock)
lighter but still 14" rims
ignition conversion
Custom CAI

What other suggestions All Motor wise should i consider.

For that price you might as well get a B18C...

I see, well in my opinion that's too much $$. Might as well get a B16a, it should be much cheaper.

Why don't you go with the b16a, it will save you some money. Then use the $$$ left over and put some CTR cams and a good header on it.

At the point now that Im just ready to park it in the yard and put a 4 sale sign on it and my lude. I have too many projects going and need to fix the Truck first then the CRX. I dont see a Rex towing my camper.

B16a would be quite nice, I still may do that but if Im going to do anything with it, I have to deciede between Drag or Show. If I go Show then I go with the body kit from Vettise http://www.vitessesportscar.com/ If you havnt see this go look now.

Make you mind first, then we can help you on which swap to get.

That body kit is a joke

that seems a little pricey. i bought my B17 w/ trans, ecu, wiring harness, shift linkage for $1135. bought some HASport mounts for $350. and am getting it installed for $600.

1135 + 350 +600 = $2085

try and talk them down some.

Still Undecided on what my plans are, but leaning closer and closer to just going show and go, and less towards drag. I love the feel of going down that strip but just not enough sport compact interest around here. I would hate to drive over 150 miles just to go race with others in the sport compact racing.

Thanks for the thoughts I really need to decide soon, and will def be doing at least a B16 swap.

Blacksheep engine owners scare me. b17s are wierd to me. cool though. I would invest in ls/vtec or d series power.

For less than half that price I put down 161 whp baseline untuned in my LS/VTEC CRX. I'd like to see that out of a b17. ( I love em but seriously thats a rip)
