i got this from http://www.hondaswap.com/articles/viewer.php?id=45
Can anyone confirm this about the ITR tranny?
Im thinking about picking up a B16 tranny with LSD Tomorrow (8/20/03), "it has low mileage and is in good condition" ..but after my GSR tranny grinding in 3rd gear im really worried about sychros..so im wondering if i should save up more money (wait longer) for the ITR tranny..or save some money and solve my problem promptly and get the "good condition B16 tranny with LSD"
Thanks for any help!

every syncro is a dual syncro because it works two gears say 1-2 3-4 5-r or something along those lines
think all the bseries trannies thave similar syncros just diff gear ratios and lsd / no lsd , final drive ratio's get the lsd tranny

yeah every b-series tranny uses synchros like you said. one synchro sleeve/slider for 2 gears.
maybe they were trying to claim that every synchro in an ITR trans is "double cone"? in either case hondaswap.com's info is at least misleading. even the 94+ GSR trans uses double cone synchros on 2nd.

probably, the ITR has dual-cone synchros.......whatever that means
on me

Itr uses a dual cone synchro in 2nd a gsr has a single cone synchro for 2nd. The itr has more life before grinding. 99 up si is same as itr but the diff/final is the weaker ls style
It's kinda hard to explain a dual cone synchro if you don't have one in your hand, but it's a better design.

the 98 GSR Helms i flipped through claims that both the B18C1 and C5 use double cone synchros on 2nd and that only the LS tranny does not.

how do you knoe if you got bad synchros? My b16a grinds only during high spedd/rpm shifts but only 4 and 5 gear grinds and sometimes 3rd if i push it, some say it might be my clutch but doesnt feel as if it's slipping..
