Default Laugh at me, I'm getting a Pacesetter...

Header. That's right, I'm seriously considering it. Here's the deal. The annoying/embarrassing A-pipe rattle has reared it's ugly head. I'm just not wanting to drop $400 on a nice SS DC sports when I'll probably have to get rid of it I plan on boosting the car later on down the road.

So I'm just gonna spend $200 for a paceshitter and stop that annoying buzzing...and maybe pick up a few horses. It's got a 2" collector, and from the pictures, it looks alot like the DC sports ceramic 4-2-1, 2-peice.

So make fun of me, ok?

how about those airmass headers arent they suppost to be ok... It seems like they are fairly cheap. But yeah man I feel you ..my rattle is getting old to and I have tried hammering it, and am too lazy to take it and get it welded. I have also thought about getting a cheap header since I am goin turbo soon and wont need it after that.

what about (...shutter...) stock from a junkyard? or do you still have yours?? what's on now???
think about it, no one's going to buy the used pacesetters off you. you'll have to use them as a hat rack or something...

OK everyone dont laugh............my first header was a pacesetter. 4-2-1 2-peice design. it accualy pretty good compared to the stock manifold.

it made great low end and a little mid-range power but in the high rpm there was hardly any diffrence. the primary's are to small for high rpm. but maybe they changed the design now.

oh well.........go for a OBX header.........there primary tubes are larger and it fits nicer........my bro has a OBX header on his civic and it works great.....

HAHA I've been waiting for this post!

I installed the Pacesetter header and cat-back system on my G2 16 months ago. I've put 30K miles on them.

It made a big difference at mid and high rpm...low rpm's may actually have suffered. Yeah the muffler is rusting slightly; yeah it's ugly; but for $320 TOTAL I got myself a complete, better flowing, lighter exhaust system that will outlast any crappy system that CarX or Midas could install. The gaskets that come with the system are essentially paper, but they haven't blown out yet(except that I used a honda manifold gasket for the head to header connection).

It sounds DEEP but not real TIGHT. The big chrome tip looks good from directly behind but not any other angle.

If you're about performance and care little for show, I highly recommend it. Now I don't think I'd put it on a brand new car; but on my high mileage daily driver it's great!

Ya, go to a junkyard, and find a stock one, it'll probably be cheaper..

I have a hard time believeing that it made a "big difference" in the mid and high rpms.. With the high quality garbage I have, I still don't feel much.

My friend has a pacesetter on his old prelude. Because the gasket is paper, the thing leaks out the as$ (maybe because the paper burned away).

If I were you, I'd get a used DC or a stock '98-'99 that has low miles around the $50-$100 range (I've seen 'em around).

Dang,

Your timing is a little off. I could sell my Neuspeed 4-2-1 ceramic for dirt cheap and a special DFH discount..

No way fiancee will let me buy a good header right now though

I think you should just pick up a decent used header for the same money...

Take care,

hahahaahhahahahaaahaaahha

you buying pacesetter.....ahhahahahaha

sorry, you asked for it
So how were your results with it?

Acutally they performed decently on my b18a. I was short on funds so I got the 4-2-1 header and cat back. I felt a HUGE difference on that motor and ran consistant 15.7's @89.X with just that, 17" wheels, and 2.4X 60'! That is pretty good in my book, especially for a motor with 100K on the clock ('93). I later used that same H/E on y LSVTEC and B18C5 setups (at this point it was no-doubt a restriction). on the latter motors, I got a dremel and port-matched the runners which were a little off. For about $300 for I/H (I got a oodup), you can't beat that. I also coated everything in Hi temp paint.

Now for my GSR, I wouldn't bother with a header unless it was at least a JDM 4-1. HTH, -C
